Tips for choosing the best CMS for your website

Choosing the best CMS for your website is a little bit tricky. As you probably already know, Content Management Systems (CMS) are the best tools for website development. However, choosing the right one is crucial for the success of your business. These are three essential tips to consider if you want to select the best CMS for your projects.

1. Choose the best CMS as per your Budget

The amount you are ready to spend on your website will determine which CMS to choose. There are many open sources and free-to-use Content Management, but some require a tremendous amount of time/money during the development process. For example, if you want to build an e-commerce website with a tiny budget, choosing Magento over Shopify or WooCommerce might be risky. You need to spend more time and money to have your website ready with Magento than the other CMS.

2. Your development skills

It is not advisable to choose software because a competitor uses it to manage its website. As an example, statistics show that some retailers make millions of dollars yearly with Magento. Even with that information, it is not enough reason to choose Magento. Most of the time, people will concentrate on the final result rather than the process. In order words, if you heard that companies make billions with a CMS, you should ask yourself how they succeeded in achieving that. More often, the answer is development skills. The owner might not be a developer, but he is ready to pay developers daily to improve and maintain its website. If you cannot pay people to keep your website or you don’t have the required skills, you will instead go with a CMS that has an easy-to-manage interface. Depending on the type of project, a couple of tools are more adapted to your profile.

3. The type of website you want to build (services or e-commerce)

Thousands of CMS exist out there. Moreover, most of them will allow you to create any type of website. However, if you do some research, you will realize that some content management systems are made for a specific kind of website than others. For example, if I want to build an eCommerce website, I would use Magento, Shopify or PrestaShop instead of Drupal or Joomla. On the other hand, A website for a company offering services will be better with WordPress or Joomla rather than PrestaShop or Shopify.
Beyond those three tips, there are many other things to consider. and those are :
  • Server requirements
  • Payment modules (For e-commerce business)
  • Ability to upgrade easily …
